Random Access Memory – Temporary Storage Media

The computers are being used extensively by the human beings for the purpose of entertainment and complex processing. In the age of technology when we all are living closely computerized lives, it’s hard to imagine any place or household without a computer. These machines are equipped with advanced electronic components and devices with which they help us do various processing with great ease.

Random Access Memory is more commonly known as RAM. This is the temporary memory in the system and is used to store the data or information for the short span of time while the processing is carried on. RAM is an integrated circuit chip which is fixed on the mother board of the system. It is an important and integral part of the computers. Read the rest of this entry »

Understanding Computer Hardware and Components

Computer hardware is something that can be confusing enough. We have a rough understanding of what computers are and how they function; however, we do not understand much about the functions of computer hardware and why these are important for use. It is important to note that computer hardware and components are important for our system; the hardware parts are the central part of a computer that allows the machine to carry out the tasks efficiently.

It is known to us that the computer starts working when the hardware power is on. Computer hardware can be defined as plain magnetic or electronic or electric device that carries out various computing functions. Hardware is basically the physical component of computer like the motherboard, RAM, hard disk and microprocessor. There are some additional peripheral devices as well, such as the keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, printer etc. The programs running on computer, such as Photoshop, Windows etc are basically the software components that are equally important. How Data Is Stored On A Hard Drive

When a file is saved on a computer, the data is stored on the hard disk platter’s magnetic coating. This magnetic coating on the platters is the ‘glue’ that keeps your data. Any damage to that magnetic coating means that there is data loss as each piece of missing coating contains data. So a platter missing a little bit of that coating has a better chance of a successful data recovery as opposed to a platter that has had massive amounts of that magnetic coating removed or destroyed.
